Red Hot Chili Peppers Releases New Song “Tippa My Tongue”
- American rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers, consisting of Anthony Kiedis (lead vocals), Flea 'Michael Balzary' (bass), John Frusciante (guitar) and Chad Smith (drums), released a new song “Tippa My Tongue” along with a music video on August 19, 2022.
The song is the first single off of their upcoming thirteenth studio album “Return of the Dream Canteen”.
It was written by Anthony Kiedis, John Frusciante, Flea and Chad Smith. Produced by Rick Rubin.
The accompanying video was directed by Malia James.
“There's a lot of different things in there. To me it's got a bunch of hooks in it,” drummer Chad Smith told Billboard about the song. “It's got P-Funk in it. I hear George (Clinton in it), and some Hendrixy kind of licks. It's a nice gumbo. I thought that would be a good first cone to come out from that (album). It sounds like us, but new. I think that's cool.”
- The new album is set to be released on October 14, 2022 as a double LP and single CD.
It was recorded during the same sessions as their previous studio album “Unlimited Love”, released back in April.
The album comprises 17-track, written by Anthony Kiedis, Flea, John Frusciante, and Chad Smith, produced by Rick Rubin.
The band said of the album in a statement, “We went in search of ourselves as the band that we have somehow always been. Just for the fun of it we jammed and learned some old songs. Before long we started the mysterious process of building new songs. A beautiful bit of chemistry meddling that had befriended us hundreds of times along the way.”
The band continued, “Once we found that slip stream of sound and vision, we just kept mining. With time turned into an elastic waist band of oversized underwear, we had no reason to stop writing and rocking. It felt like a dream. When all was said and done, our moody love for each other and the magic of music had gifted us with more songs than we knew what to do with. Well we figured it out.”
They added, “Two double albums released back to back. The second of which is easily as meaningful as the first or should that be reversed. 'Return Of The Dream Canteen' is everything we are and ever dreamed of being. It's packed.”
