Los Angeles-based Chinese-American alt-pop singer-songwriter Emei has released the third single of 2022 called “Trust Issues”, following “Better People to Leave on Read” and “That Girl”.
The track was written by Emily Li, Myles Avery, and Jordan Lewis. Produced by Myles Avery, and Jordan Lewis.
The song was initially inspired by a dream where Emei shaved her head—apparently signaling a desire to “let go”.
Growing up with immigrant parents who over-emphasized independence, Emei has always had trouble trusting others. Now, becoming an adult, she has been forced to face the problems that this self-reliance can cause.
