The Vaccines Announces New EP “Planet Of The Youth”, Shares New Song “Disaster Girl”
- London-based alt-rock band The Vaccines announced their upcoming 6-track EP “Planet Of The Youth” would be released on April 8, 2022.
From the EP, the band the second single “Disaster Girl” on March 23, following “Thunder Fever”.
It was written by Justin Hayward-Young, Max Wolfgang, Timothy Lanham, Freddie Cowan, Yoann Intonti and Arni Arnason. Produced by Fryars.
The band frontman Justin Hayward-Young said of the song, “I’d written down the title after seeing the NFT of the original ‘Disaster Girl’ meme sell for $500,000. It all seemed very apocalyptic to me and fit in with this strange world of the planet of the youth that I was starting to build in my head. When you first hear it sung, Disaster Girl sounds like some kind of superhero, but when you realise there is a comma between the two words then the meaning obviously flips. Sometimes we’re our own worst enemies in our most meaningful relationships but we don’t see it until everything has gone up in flames.”
- The band embarks on their headline tour in the UK. The tour kicks off at Waterside Theatre in Aylsebury on April 13, 2022.
“Playing live is at the core of what we do,” Justin Hayward-Young said. “It’s how we built our fan base and it’s where we thrive. Releasing music in a world without gigs felt a little like releasing it into a black hole so we couldn’t wait to get back into the studio to record an EP of songs we knew we’d be playing live. We can’t wait to hit the road and play them for everybody so that they can all come to life in the ways they were intended to.“
