ROSALÍA Releases New Album “MOTOMAMI”: Streaming
- Spanish singer-songwriter ROSALÍA released her third studio album “MOTOMAMI” on March 18, 2022 via Columbia Records.
It is her first album in four years since the 2018 album “El Mal Querer”.
The album comprises 16-track, featuring guest appearances from The Weeknd and Tokischa.
She began recording the album in Los Angeles in 2019. The album title is named from two parts. ROSALÍA said, “The album is structured in binaries, two types of contrasting energy.” “Moto is” the divine, experimental, frictional and the strongest part of the album, while “Mami” is the genuine, personal, confessional and vulnerable part.
She also chose to name in honor of her mother, Pilar Tobella, and the company she runs Motomami S.L., which administrates activities around artist representation.
ROSALÍA told Zane Lowe for Apple Music 1 about the album, “I literally don't take breaks. I feel like, to work at a certain level, to get a certain result, you really need to sacrifice. I needed to focus and put all my energy and get to the center to create. I didn't want to make an album just because now it's time to make an album.”
She revealed that the album is more playful than her previous albums. “I feel like I haven't done that in the other albums. Also, they were much more serious if that makes sense. And I think that in this one, I was like, 'I really want to find a way to allow my sense of humor to be present.'”
