  • JP Cooper Releases New Album “She”: Streaming

  • British singer-songwriter JP Cooper released his long-awaited sophomore album “She” via Island Records. It is his first album in five years.

Initially, the album was supposed to be released on October 15, 2021, but was delayed. Finally he released the album on February 18, 2022.
The album comprises 24-track, consisting of 3 discs, featuring guest appearance from British singer-songwriter Ray BLK.
JP Cooper said of the album, “Many of these songs on the album have been inspired and nurtured by women throughout my life, from experiences with family, friends, and girlfriends along with all the amazing lessons, blessings and struggles that those experiences have come with. When I think about the word, 'SHE', I think about learning and all the women who have guided, challenged, loved and helped me grow.”
He told CLASH about approach the album in an interview, “With this album, I wanted to make sure the songs were a body of work that exist together. Sonically that was important. That was my focus! In terms of subject matter, it's always going to be based on my reality and the people in my life. I still have a very romantic outlook on things, and I play into that with the way that I write.”

He continued, “Most of the big moments or opportunities to learn in my life have been bought around by women. From my mum dying when I was young, to having four sisters who took that place, nurtured me and challenged me, to getting into relationships, one of which with the mother of my eldest son and that falling apart, and trying to navigate co-parenting. To now of course meeting my wife, getting married, and having kids with her – I do genuinely believe that my greatest teachers have been women. Even though that's not what this album is about completely, that felt like the overarching theme, hence the name 'She'.”
Before the release of the album, he appeared on BBC Radio 2 Piano Month to perform “Need You Tonight” with Ray BLK and BBC Concert Orchestra from the album.
Also, he embarks on the UK and Ireland Tour in support of the album. The Tour kicks off at The Button Factory in Dublin, Ireland on April 23, 2022.
