BROODS Releases New Song “Heartbreak” from New Album “Space Island”
- New Zealand pop duo BROODS, consisting of Georgia Nott and Caleb Nott, announced their fourth studio album “Space Island” would be released on February 18, 2022.
On November 9th, the duo released the second single “Heartbreak” from the album, following “Piece Of My Mind” released in September.
The song is accompanied by an animated music video, which is Chapter 2 of a three-part short film. Directed by Dr D Foothead.
In Chapter 1, B-movie-inspired visual "Piece Of My Mind" was filmed on the duo's home turf of New Zealand.
“We wrote this from a place of determination. Determined to learn from the loss of my marriage and keep my heart open in its most tender state," Georgia Nott said of the song. "When I say, 'Let your heart break', I'm whispering to myself to stay present with the grief and transmute it into empathy. It was a mantra for me when I first separated from my husband. One of our parents would reiterate to me daily at the beginning of my healing.”
- The album comprises 10-track, featuring guest appearance from Swedish singer-songwriter Tove Lo.
Georgia Nott said of the album, “One thing about the experience of grief is that it makes you feel like you're a bit out of orbit or isolated in a very big feeling. The more we figured out the strange logic of Space Island, the more the music started to reflect what was happening in the lyrics with the production, we wanted to make it sound like you were on this kind of jet pack trip where everything is shifting, where you're escaping to this unknown world called Space Island.”
