George Maple Premieres New Song “Hero”
Australian singer-songwriter George Maple has released a new song "Hero". The song is taken from her upcoming debut album, which is expected to be released later in 2017. It was written and produced by George Maple.
The track sampled from Mylo’s 2005 track "In My Arms", itself a sample of Boy Meets Girl’s 1988 track "Waiting for a Star to Fall".
About the new song, she told triple j;
"It’s a song that focuses on the strength in vulnerability. I talk a lot about power and strength and this was my realisation that we often forget that vulnerability is such an important aspect when we talk about strength.
I first came across the sample in the Mylo record. [and] I kinda just sang it in at the end of the song – I used to love it so much when I was out clubbing when I was younger. It ended up on the record and I had to contact the writers and get their permission [to use it]. It was a very interesting experience, but they approved!"-
- George Maple first became known for her guest appearance on Flume's self-titled debut album in 2012. She debuted with her fist EP "Vacant Space" in 2014.
She worked with electronic music project What So Not, who released the EP "Gemini" in 2015.
In 2016, she joined in DJ Snake's album "Encore", in which she performed "Talk". - source : triple j
