Smith & Thell Releases New Song “We Were in Love”
Stockholm-based pop-folk duo Smith & Thell, consisting of Maria Smith (vocals/guitar) and Victor Thell (vocals/guitar/production), released a new song “We Were in Love” on May 26, 2023.
The song is the first single of 2023 and will appear on their upcoming album.
It was written by Victor Thell, Maria Jane Smith, Ella Boh and Will Jay. Produced by Victor Thell.
Victor Thell said of the song, “This song was written to my grandma from her perspective to my grandpa that's not alive anymore. I was trying to go into her body and her soul and to see what she would say to him, if he was alive today.”
Maria Smit said, “We posted a video from out Airbnb because we had a host that wasn't very happy with the volume. We did not really expect the reaction, we didn't expect it to be that intense.”
Victor Thell added, “We hope for a reaction, we did not expect it to be this.”- Maria Smith continued, “No we didn't, so we feel kind of bad that it has been taking so long for us to release this song, but it was not possible like we kept working in LA. You went to London, I went to Stockholm.”
Victor Thell said, “So what we want to say is that we actually took time that didn't exist and made it happen just for you guys and it's like we are very happy that you guys wanted this song so fast to be out in the world, and we made it as soon as possible.”
Maria Smith said, “As soon as possible and we like usually when you make an album you plan for like you have your own little thoughts of like what song is gonna be first and how do you wanna present this album, but kind of you guys decided it for us this time and I think that's beautiful.”
Victor Thell said, “We are very happy that you were as excited as us on this song, it means a lot to us personally and we're very happy that it means something to you.” - source : Apple Music
