  • Cody Simpson Releases Self-Titled New Album: Streaming

  • Australian singer-songwriter Cody Simpson released his self-titled fourth studio album on April 8, 2022 along with a making video for “Summer Evening”.

It is his firs album in seven years since the 2015 album “Free”.
The album comprises 11-track, produced by Adrian Cota and Cody Simpson, featuring guest appearance from Ben Harper.
“Producing this album not only was a chance to reclaim some innocence — which was temporarily lost in America — but it has an ever so subtle sense of time and place,” Cody Simpson said of album. “I'm ready for a new chapter in my life. Recording this album and the studio we did it in, with all this richness of history there, was a real cathartic and intrinsic experience.”
Back in November 2020, he took a week out from his disciplined swimming schedule (he is aiming for the 2024 Summer Olympics) to record and co-produce the album at the celebrated Village Recording Studios in West Hollywood.
He shared on social media, “This has been years in the making and it's still sinking in that it's out in the ether. It's been in my pocket since we cut it over a year ago and the timing is now right (if ever it was going to be!) The very fact that I'm swimming professionally means my ability to travel and play live is inhibited, but I hope this'll do. I have a fair few live sessions to share with you digitally anyhow. This album is for all of you who've stuck by me and my musical growth. From the early pop days to getting 'Free' to the Tide trio days to now. We're here now.”

He said, the making video for “Summer Evening”,“'Summer Evening' within the making of the new album. A personal favourite and a song that I wrote quite quickly on a guitar in a blur of imagery and feeling. It talks about how you can share an evening with someone and in the blink of an eye everything can change. Then Adrian Cota turned it into a scintillating yet understated production full of warm brass, Hawaiian guitars and crispy percussion. Composing this album side-by-side with my best friend and young maestro Adrian Cota was unreal. We worked from noon to midnight for 8 days and this project is the result. Flow was real.”
