MARINA Premieres Political Montage Video for “To Be Human”
- Last week, London-based singer-songwriter Marina surprise released the first half of her fourth studio album “LOVE + FEAR”.
On April 8, from the album, she released her new music video for “To Be Human”, which chronicles various protests for social causes throughout history, drawing comparisons between modern liberation movements and protests throughout history.
“The subject matter is really important, it talks about unity,” MARINA said. “I wanted to create this picture of humanity, because in our political climate we are constantly being made to see other people as ‘other.’ If you’re from a different culture, you’re seen as different and potentially dangerous and I really hate that,” she continued. “So I wrote this song really thinking about that and for that reason it really forms a core part of the record.”
- “I think all of us [can't] afford not to be engaged in that,” she said. “We all need to be challenged in different ways, and if no one presents different ideas to us, how are we meant to grow and learn?”
MARINA will embark on LOVE + FEAR NORTH AMERICA TOUR between May and October. Learn more about tour dates, click here.
