Donate to support families affected by the crisis in Ukraine ➔ Casey Releases New Song “Atone”
Back in December 2022, Wales-based rock band Casey, consisting of Tom Weaver (vocals), Liam Torrance (lead guitar), Toby Evans (rhythm guitar), Adam Smith (bass) and Max Nicolai (drums), returned with the new song “Great Grief”.
It is their first music in four years since the 2018 album “Where I Go When I Am Sleeping”.
Following the comeback song, the band released a new song “Atone” on January 3, 2023. The track was written and produced by Casey.
Tom Weaver said of the song, “'Atone' returns to the familiar territory of heartache; but concentrates on the nuances of it rather than the crescendo of disintegration. With age, the collective weight of small unspoken feelings grow heavy, leveraging distance that could be consoled with a conversation – but often isn't.”
He continued, “Sonically we wanted to position it closer to the raw, impassioned sound that fans often associate with our first record, but also demonstrate a level of maturity and progression that aligns with how the lyrical sentiment has changed over time. Rather than just being angsty and lamenting for the sake of it, we wanted the song to be more considered and refined.”- In 2018, they announced that they have decided to disband following a final UK/European tour in 2019. But they are back.
Casey shared on social media, “For a long time we weren't sure we'd ever write or say this again, but we're happy to be returning as a band called Casey. Those on our mailing list have had a bit of an update on where we've been, and where we're at now. But to keep it brief, after a lot of individual reflection we came to the agreement that some of the best times of our lives were spent in this silly little band - and would be naive to say we don't miss it. We're coming back with a fresh perspective on the music we've made and experiences we've shared.
