  • Dean Lewis Returns With New Song “Falling Up”

  • Australian singer-songwriter Dean Lewis is back. He released his first single “Falling Up” in two years.

His last single was the collaboration song "Used to Love" with Dutch DJ Martin Garrix in 2019.
The new song was written by TMS, Plested, Hayden Calnin and Dean Lewis. Produced by Dylan Nash, Edd Holloway, Dean Lewis and TMS.
The accompanying music video was directed by Tim Mattia.
“I always thought I would be happy when I finished school or when I passed an exam, or I got a job or a promotion or if I went travelling and then I was like – ‘Ooh, now I have a record deal, what if I have a big song?’,” Dean Lewis explained. “Then, I had a big song, and I was on the road for three years and when I stopped, I realised it had all passed me by and I was actually less present and more anxious and stressed than ever. I looked back on my life and at all of these points along the way and I realised that I’ve never felt any better, it’s always been onto the next thing, always moving.”
He continued, “Those lyrics are about being online and focusing on that one negative comment in a sea of good. You feel the negativity and it affects your life and I took it on, and I found myself feeling more and more anxious and isolated. I really struggle with that.”
  • He shared on social media, “I usually like to play smaller parts in my music videos, but before we shot this one, my manager called me and said “you really have to own it in this one”, and I tried to! I tried to let go of my fears and give it all I had. I hope that comes through!
The video was directed by the incredible @timmattia - Tim had this amazing idea to go to a desolate, almost alien place, which turned out to be Las Vegas during Covid! We shot in The Palms Casino. We had the entire place to ourselves which was a rare opportunity. The idea of suiting up and heading to a show, then realising you’re alone, lost in a different world, AND THEN deciding to return to yourself 🤯 THAT is storytelling, and it connected to the meaning of the song in such a unique and amazing way. Just incredible. It’s a rare thing when a music video makes a song even better, and Tim did that! Thank you so much mate!”
