Sekou Premieres New Song “Crying” on BBC Radio 1
London-based singer-songwriter Sekou premiered a new song “Crying” on BBC Radio 1's Future Sounds with Clara Amfo on January 23, 2024.
He wrote the song when he was 17 and teased the demo of the song on TikTok two years later. Then, the song went viral, finally was officially released.
The track was written by Bibi Bourelly, Matt Rist, and Sekou Sylla. Produced by Matt Rist.
Sekou told Clara Amfo about the song, “We started in the studio. It was a session it was going like a bit wonky. And I just remember this vibe was created and this piano calls and that was like it came around in like 25 minutes. But it kind of got lost after a few weeks and in all these demos and just now three years later, we're here.”
He continued, “But I would have to say, I think like TikTok kind of brought it into the air. Randomly just thought put it on there Christmas. And people really started to like it, but it was really nice to watch and say I really liked it and excited for the song.”- Sekou shared on social media, “This song means so much to me the storyline just everything that I was feeling. I can't wait to see this song grow. I wrote this song when I was 17 and it just sat on my notes demos.”
