Adelaide-based Australian alt-rock band Sines, consisting of Caitlyn Hearne (vocals), Matthew Gelling (guitar), Caspar Hawksley (guitar), Lenny Regione (bass) and Zed Crawford (drums), released their self-titled debut album alongside the Tim Hills-directed music video for “In The End” on December 15, 2023.
The album comprises a 8-track, all songs were written by Sines, and recorded, mixed and mastered by Lachy Pitcher.
The band has released each song since March 2022, and finally concluded with the eighth track “In The End” in December 2023.
On the album, the band blends jazz, soul, metal, alternative rock, and blues sound.
The band said of the album, “For us, this album is largely about mental health and the ups and downs of navigating the lows in life. It's also a reminder that you're never alone in these moments, despite how isolating they can be.”
They continued, “At its core, this album is about change. Moving from the familiar but harmful to the new but uncertain and the absolute wringer of ups and downs that can bring. It's the acknowledgment that life can be pretty fucked but it can be equally beautiful and things will always look up. Nothing is permanent.”
- The band explained about some tracks for the album.
“This is a song about the power of connection through adversity. You're never alone even when you feel most alone. We hope this one gets you feeling fierce and fired up.”
“Better Left Behind”
“Better left Behind is a song for moving on from what no longer serves us and we are thrilled to bring this to life in lyric video form created by the incredible Nic Winter.”
“In The End”
“This recording session was two years ago with the incredible Lachlan Pitcher at Depict Studios. Lachy is the wizard behind the sound of this album which would not have been possible without his skill and patience. So it's been a long time coming and we're so excited for you to hear the song that will finalise this chapter.”
