Canadian singer-songwriter Shawn Desman is back with a new song “Maniac”.
He released the song on October 21, 2022. It is his first music in seven years since the 2015 “Obsession”.
Also the song is his first single under his new label Wax Records.
It was written by Jamie Appleby, Alyssa Reid, hawn Bosco Fernandes, Jacob Sebastian Attwooll, Patrick Owen Dalton, and Ryan Stewart who also produced the track.
Back in July, he performed at Drake's All Canadian North Stars event OVO Fest. It is his first performance in four years after leaving Universal Music Canada.
Afterwards Drake approached him backstage, praising him for his performance and had encouraged him to continue making music.
“He (Drake) goes, 'Do you understand what you just did up there? The people love you. Your music still lives on to this day. What are you doing?' And I said, 'Drake, man, just life happens. Stuff happens. And I kind of lost the love for this,'” Shawn Desman recalled. “He's like, 'Squash all that. Shawn Desman — I'm telling you — Shawn Desman needs to make music again.'”

Shawn Desman shared on social media, “I'd also like to share how my world has literally been flipped upside down in the best way possible since the OVO show in July...
I'm stepping back into a world I thought I had left me out to dry back in 2015 but it turns out that everything happens for reason and it just wasn't my time then. But let my say this,,, It's my F$&@!N Time Now! I say that not in a conceited, ignorant or flagrant way (those who know or have met me know that is not who I am) I just believe in myself again and have people around me who also believe in me... And let me tell you, that feels so so amazing!
