Machine Gun Kelly Performs “my ex's best friend” & “lonely” on Saturday Night Live
American singer-songwriter Machine Gun Kelly appeared on Saturday Night Live to perform “my ex's best friend” and “lonely”.
This marks his debut appearance as the Saturday Night Live musical guest.
“I remember when I was a kid watching [SNL] every weekend with my aunt and my dad, since they aren't here to see this moment, I'm going to perform the song I wrote for them on the show,” Machine Gun Kelly tweeted earlier this week. “Hopefully, I'll feel them there.”
Both songs are included his fifth studio album “Tickets to My Downfall”, which was released last September and reached No. 1 on the US Billboard 200.
“my ex's best friend” was released featuring blackbear as the third single off the album in August 2020,
“lonely” featured Travis Barker of blink-182. Machine Gun Kelly told SPIN, “I called Travis [Barker] after my father had passed and I already had that concept of a song for my aunt who was my closest family member, who passed too. Ironically, me and my father both lived with my aunt. That song is like the house, you know, they both were in the house, and they both are in that song. It was either take it [sharing his emotions of grief] in that song or I would have found some other way, which would have been much less friendly to myself to get my anger and pain and grief out. So I was grateful that Travis allowed me to come in and have that cathartic moment in the booth.”- KbbPZDpAgW4
