BENEE Releases Cover of Amy Winehouse's “Back To Black”
New Zealand singer-songwriter BENEE released a cover of British singer-songwriter Amy Winehouse's “Back To Black” on December 10th.
The song follows up her debut album “Hey U X”, which was released on November.
BENEE shared on social media, “Back To Black cover out now on all platforms 🤎 Such a brilliant artist.”
The original version of the song was released by the late Amy Winehouse as the third single off of her second album “Back to Black” in 2006. The song was written by Amy Winehouse and Mark Ronson.
Mark Ronson said of the song in the 2015 documentary “AMY”, “[Winehouse] would tell me stories about Blake and this tempestuous, extreme relationship. That first day, she wrote “Back to Black,” all the lyrics and the melody, in two or three hours. It was just one of those serendipitous things, like, I just caught her in that magic moment, you know? She was just ready to get it going – that's why I couldn't understand what everyone else was saying about this procrastinating, troubled artist.”- source : Spotify
