Panic! At The Disco Performs “Hey Look Ma, I Made It” and “High Hopes” on The Voice 2018 Live Finale
American rock band Panic! At The Disco appeared on The Voice 2018 Live Finale, where the band performed “Hey Look Ma, I Made It” and “High Hopes”.
Both songs are included on their sixth studio album "Pray for the Wicked", which was released back in June.
“Hey Look Ma, I Made It” was written by Jake Sinclair, Michael Angelakos, Dillon Francis, Sam Holland, Morgan Kibby and Brendon Urie.
The band frontman Brendon Urie told Topsify about the song in an interview, “A friend of mine had started a track, and I was like ‘Can I have that track?’ […] It was just an instrument just like a synth and a drum beat. It made me feel how I did when I was younger. […] It’s me [saying] ‘look, mom, I did it!’ you know. I thought I was going to be a starving artist. I’m not starving anymore, but I can’t believe I’m here. It’s a celebration.”- “High Hopes” was released as the second single from the album, it was written by Cook Classics, Tayla Parx, Samuel Hollander, Jake Sinclair, LOLO, Ilsey Juber, Jonas Jeberg, Jenny Owen Youngs and Brendon Urie.
Brendon Urie said of the song, “I want[ed] to talk about my childhood and having this dream as a kid. Making a cardboard cutout of a guitar and standing front of the mirror, dreaming of being on stage. Now it’s come to fruition, and that is what [“High Hopes”] is about. It’s [this] all encompassing idea of how it started and where I am now [and] the vision I had.” -
