Daya Shares New Music Video for “Insomnia”
Earlier this month, American singer-songwriter Daya released her latest song “Insomnia” from her upcoming sophomore album.
Also the song came 5 months after coming out as Bisexual and opening up about her relationship with video photographer Clyde Munroe.
It was written by OZGO, Jacob Kasher, Michael Pollack and Daya.
On March 26th, she dropped a new music video for the song, directed by Nick Harwood. In the clip, she performed the song at night club.
“‘Insomnia’ at its core is a gritty club pop anthem about missing the person you love, so it felt appropriate to take the visuals in a rave direction in a grimy abandoned warehouse that feels like something you’d stumble into at 3am in Berlin to temporarily neglect whatever pain you’re feeling,” Daya explained. “Nick Harwood took this vision and perfectly brought it to life by adding intense strobe lighting and other atmospheric elements to capture these flickering moments of desperation and loneliness.”- Her yet-to-be-titled sophomore album is expected to be released this year.
Last year, she told Idolator about the new album in an interview ,"It’s hard to define an album, but it’s definitely just a blend of all of my inspirations and all of my favorite sounds. There’s some club songs on it, there are some party songs, there are some more intimate acoustic guitar songs. There’s a mix of it all."
Daya is better known as a vocalist of The Chainsmokers' "Don't Let Me Down", which won Best Dance Recording at Grammy Awards in 2017. - source : Genius
