Wolf Alice Premieres New Song “No Hard Feelings” on Apple Music
- London-based alt-rock band Wolf Alice premiered a new song “No Hard Feelings” with an accompanying music video on Zane Lowe's Apple Music show.
The song is the third single off of their upcoming third album “Blue Weekend”, following “The Last Man On Earth” and “Smile”.
The track was written by Joff Oddie, Joel Amey, Theo Ellis and Ellie Rowsell. The video was directed by Jordan Hemingway.
Frontwoman Ellie Rowsell explained of the song, “I started out trying to make a really cheesy almost Motown-y, Ronettes kind of song about the end of a relationship, and feeling 'What's the point of being miserable about it?' But it was short, because originally it was played so fast. I tried to make it longer, but I didn't have any more words - I had said everything I wanted to say perfectly, and didn't want to ruin it with more. So instead we slowed it down, and I felt way more moved by it like that.”
She continued, “We were like, 'I like the funny intro more than the rock song itself. And so then I knew I had to flesh it out a bit, but I maybe made it into a funny short intro thing because I was scared to make it into a real song perhaps. Because there is no ambiguity really in the lyrics so it was quite scary.”
The new album is set to be released on June 4, 2021. It is their first LP in four years.
