  • Benji Bower & The Terra Collective Orchestra Release Two New Songs “Perpetuus” featuring Melanie Marshall & “Leviathan” featuring Harriet Riley

  • British composer Benji Bower and Bristol-based The Terra Collective Orchestra released two new songs “Perpetuus” and “Leviathan” on August 20, 2024.

Two songs were taken from their upcoming debut album “Terra Coda”, which is set to be released on October 11, 2024.
“Perpetuus” features London-based mezzo-soprano vocalist Melanie Marshall.
The track explores topics of wisdom, fear and rebirth.
The song is accompanied by the Adam Laity-directed music video.

Benji Bower said of the song, “Perpetuus is the closing piece of terra coda. Exploring death, rebirth wisdom and fear. Performing this live and in the recording studio it felt like the building was going to take off. Just to make sure we have full oooof-ness, we did some over dubs with an extremely naughty, dirty and very yummy concert bass drum. For perpetuus there is a delicious film by the wonderfull Adam Laity. With imagery filmed in my mother land of Devon. following parts of the river dart to the sea. Perpetuus is the most immense and emboldening piece I have ever written and performed.”
  • “Leviathan” features British percussionist Harriet Riley.
Benji Bower said of the song, “leviathan was inspired by the sea. For the intro to leviathan together with my synth brother Alex Lupo. We created synths from a pallet of samples taken from the depths of the sea. Sounds of whales, coral reefs and waves and more. Wwe processed them through modular & granular knob twiddly business to create a haunting sound scape.”

  • The debut album comprises a 13-track, featuring guest appearances from Jo Silverston, Kathleen Frances, James Gow, Melanie Marshall, and Harriet Riley.
Every moment in every song is crafted to tell a story and evoke emotion, with each member of the collective contributing in their own unique way.

Benji Bower said of the album, “Terra Coda is a love letter to the earth, a cry to the mother who bore all life on this planet, an apology for the destruction of what we call home. Born out of a deep connection and yearning for nature and a reaction to the climate crisis. In these times of division and fear I find peace in wilderness; I find calm in the hinterlands and strength in the oceans to navigate through my surges of darkness. To communicate this emergence of feelings with music is all I have. This is my dream. My rapture in blue.. my desperation to hold on and to let go.”
