  • Klangkarussell & GIVVEN Drop New Music Video for “Afterglow”

  • Back in February, Austrian electronic music duo Klangkarussell, consisting of Tobias Rieser and Adrian Held, teamed up with Toronto-based singer-songwriter GIVVEN to release a new song “Afterglow”.

On March 7, they dropped a new music video for the song directed by Rupert Höller.
The track was written and produced by Adrian Held, Jordan Haller, Nikodem Milewski, and Tobias Rieser.
The song is positioned as the spiritual successor to the 2020 single “Ghostkeeper”
Klangkarussell said of the song, “’Afterglow’ is the spiritual successor to ‘Ghostkeeper’. It continues the story of loss and grief, but this time a bit further along in the process. It’s about someone who has started to come to terms with their loss and is learning how to keep living in the ‘Afterglow’ of this person that they’ve left behind. In ‘Ghostkeeper’ the protagonist was completely lost in the grief and was struggling to live a full life in the wake of the loss. In ‘Afterglow’, they are still holding onto the memories of their person, but in a more positive way, as they learn to move on while still remembering.”
  • The duo continued, “In meteorology, afterglow refers to the last waves of beautiful pink/golden light left behind as the sun sets in the sky. In this song, afterglow represents holding onto the beautiful memories and parts of a person that you’ve left behind, and appreciating those things while still allowing the sun to set on your time together. It’s about the process of grieving but still living at the same time.”

  • The duo said of the video, “The project tells the story of experiencing something painful but transforming it into another kind of energy, something more positive and powerful, using the pain to form even more strength to move on.
We aimed to symbolize loss, grief and moving on by combining striking visuals. The process of grief is not linear. It has a lot of chaotic phases, ups and downs along the way. The light has a strong symbolism throughout the whole music video.
We want to thank the whole team for realizing this project with us.”
