Nightly Covers The Goo Goo Dolls' “iris”
Back in August, Nashville-based alt-pop band Nightly, consisting Jonathan Capeci (vocals), Joey Beretta (guitar) and Nicholas Sainato (drums), released their highly-anticipated sophomore album “wear your heart out” for the fist time in three years.
After the releasing the album, the band released a cover of American alt-rock band The Goo Goo Dolls' “iris” as a gift to their fans to close out this year on December 29, 2023.
The band shared, “A little gift from us to you.”
The original version of the song was written for the 1998 film “City of Angels” soundtrack. The film was directed by Brad Silberling, starring Nicolas Cage and Meg Ryan.
The song was later released as a single from The Goo Goo Dolls' sixth studio album “Dizzy Up the Girl” in April 1998.
The song reached No. 3 on the UK Singles chart and No. 9 on the US Billboard Hot 100.
