Action Forever Releases Debut Song “Loveless Love”
Toronto-based indie funk band Action Forever released a debut song “Loveless Love” on November 21, 2023.
The band founder Sim Bansal wrote and recorded the song during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown.
Sim Bansal said of the song, “Loosely, the song tells the story of a man who is entranced by the world of live online sex, so much so that he gives up who he is: his morals, his dreams, his money, etc. for virtual transactional relationships with performers who he ultimately falls in 'love' with.”
He continued, “Lyrically speaking, with virtual sexual relationships now commonplace, I couldn't help but write about how I feel about that whole phenomenon. Instrumentally, I always had this idea of making something sound 'slowed down' - like it was swimming in syrup – but, without using software or tape speed to simply just slow it down.”
- The song will appear on their debut album.
Sim Bansal said, “During the lockdown, I wrote and recorded a full album with this song, 'Loveless Love,' being the last one in the timeline. So, when it came time to take the seed of this song and grow it into a full production, my musical and lyrical sensibilities were as thoroughly warmed up and honed as they ever had been.”
He added, “This was great because, before, where I felt held back by stiffness or inability - particularly that “on the tip of your tongue” feeling where you just can’t quite articulate an idea, things just flowed out like water for this one. I felt myself learning to trust my instincts - a lesson that was huge for me.”
Sim Bansal has been working for years on a body of original fringe-pop music for a 4-piece band, now to be released under the name Action Forever. The music, while lively, electric, melodic and danceable, explores darker themes such as loneliness in a digital age, abusive relationships, loss of identity, and mental health.
