BLOXX Releases New EP “Modern Day”
London-based alt-rock band BLOXX, consisting of Ophelia “Fee” Booth (vocals), Taz Sidhu (guitar), Paul Raubišķis (bass) and Mozwin Noronha (drums), released their third EP “Modern Day” on August 11, 2023.
It is their first project in two years since the 2021 EP “Pop Culture Radio”.
The EP comprises 5-track, produced by Ophelia Booth and Rich Turvey.
The band leased singer Ophelia Booth shared about the EP on the social media, “Tonight we release an EP that I could barely write due to my health and lack of ability of feeling right. This is 'modern day'. At the end of this, if it doesn't work? It doesn't. This EP accumulated through the end of lockdown to 2022. We poured everything we had into writing during a really scary time. Lost, freaked out and consumed with worry for the future - Modern Day came about.”
- The band explained about some tracks for the EP.
“'Television Promises', which is a song that I wrote in lockdown and it's basically about the whole addiction to pop culture into TV into films. And you know, I couldn't get off my phone back in these days and think we're all in the same position. But yeah, we would like to thank the fans for sticking around and waiting for us. We're back. And this is our new song. We hope you enjoy it.”
“'Runaway', which is a tune that I wrote in locked down. And it's basically one night, I had this mad dream of a song I thought was gonna be a smash hit, like heard it, go to number one in my head, run straight downstairs in my studio in my pajamas and forgot it all. So this is a song to all of the lost melodies, homage to all of the songs you forget, and the ones you never finish.”
“Weight In Gold”
“This was written about not knowing my own worth as an individual and hating myself, and based on a few things my dad said to me at my worst during heartbreak.”
“Happy Anniversary (To Being Lonely)”
“Might be the best song I wrote. I put our first song ever out on YouTube 7 years ago, and this just means the world to cover star us. Honestly thankyou. This is a really important tune to me. I pretty much need a holiday after I listen to it everytime. Of course it's down to Rich Turvey and everyone involved in this frantic inexplicable part of our journey. Gonna stop talking now and maybe go write a book. I hope you love it as much as we do.”
