Priya Ragu Premieres New Song “Easy” on BBC Radio 1
Swiss singer-songwriter Priya Ragu premiered a new song “Easy” on BBC Radio Radio 1's Future Sounds with Jack Saunders on July 3, 2023.
The song is taken from her upcoming debut album.
The track was written by Japhna Gold, Michael Stafford, Ntuthuko Nhlumayo, and Priya Ragu. Produced by Champion, Japhna Gold, and Trulee.
The accompanying music video was directed by Jade Ang Jackman.
Priya Ragu told Jack Saunders about the song, “Actually, when we were in the studio, it was supposed to be like a slow jam track. And then organically happened. We were like what if we make a garbage turn out of it. So we tried it out and everybody liked it right away and it's a new sound for me as well. But I love to try and try new sounds and fuse it with my own culture. So I mean the song is describing the moment where one is giving green light to the other but nothing is moving at all. And it's like we are waiting too long for the perfect moment to say it, like somebody or I don't know fearful rejection.”- She continued, “I mean, actually, it never really felt like a break. But because I was like constantly on it. And we were in the studio all the time. And there were times when I went to the studio and we were like, oh my god, what are we going to do? So there was no inspiration, nothing. We just drink coffee all day and talk about life. But that's also a part of the creativity and we have created some amazing music. Finally I'm like I'm very confident about it. So took my time but thanks for that.”
The debut album is expected to be released in 2023. It is her first project in two years since 2021 mixtape “damnshestamil”. - source : BBC Radio 1
