Donate to support families affected by the crisis in Ukraine ➔ Kylie Minogue Announces New Album “Tension”, Shares New Song “Padam Padam”
Last week, Australian singer-songwriter Kylie Minogue announced her upcoming sixteenth studio album “Tension” would be released on September 22, 2023 via BMG.
It is her first body of work in three years since the 2020 album “Disco”.
Kylie Minogue said of the album, “I started this album with an open mind and a blank page. Unlike my last two albums there wasn't a 'theme,' it was about finding the heart or the fun or the fantasy of that moment and always trying to service the song. I wanted to celebrate each song's individuality and to dive into that freedom. I would say it's a blend of personal reflection, club abandon and melancholic high.”
From the album, she released the first single called “Padam Padam” on May 18, 2023.
The track was written by Peter Rycroft and Norwegian singer-songwriter Ina Wroldsen, who also performed backing vocals. Produced by Lostboy.
The accompanying music video was directed by Sophie Muller.- The album comprises 11-track (deluxe edition 14-track), in which she worked with previous collaborators, Biff Stannard and Duck Blackwell, who worked on seven tracks of 11-track.
She continued, “I loved being back in the studio with my collaborators but was also able to benefit from remote recording, which we have all got used to – my mobile studio never left my side for a year and a half. The album is a mix of songs I have written and songs which really spoke to me. Making this album helped me navigate challenging times and celebrate the now. I hope it accompanies listeners on their own journeys and becomes part of their story.” -
