Maggie Releases Debut EP “Rainbows & Monsters”
Norwegian-Serbian singer-songwriter Maggie released her debut EP “Rainbows & Monsters” along with a new music video for “Necklace” on February 24, 2023.
The EP comprises 7-track, featuring guest appearance from Slopes. All songs were written by Maggie Petkovic, produced by Maggie and Carl-Viktor.
Maggie took two years to create the EP because she was forced to stay at home during the COVID-19 pandemic.
She told c-heads, “Part of the back story to why this took time is a bit about the fact that we were all forced to stay at home during Covid. I wrote and produced a lot during the first and second lockdown in Norway. I had no agenda of what or where all these songs I wrote and produced in my living room were gonna end up, nor did I pay any mind to it as the future seemed so far from reality. It made it easier for me to disappear into my own creativity which slowly but surely shaped out to become a larger project eventually.”
The accompanying music video was directed by Helene Bergjord and Magnus Westerlund.
- Maggie said of the EP, “The title "Rainbows & Monsters" comes from an idea I had way back in 2020 when I started working on my own music full time. It is a result of how I function. When I'm good, I'm really good, when I'm not good, I go deep into the basement. This is also expressed in the songs - it becomes both heartfelt and dramatic at times. All 7 songs have their own story that describes thoughts and different emotions, good and bad. This is my very first EP which has taken over 2 years to complete and I am proud to have created my own little 'musical landscape'.”
