Protoje Premieres New Song “Ten Cane Row” featuring Jorja Smith on BBC Radio 1
- Jamaican reggae singer-songwriter Oje Ken Ollivierre, aka Protoje premiered a new song “Ten Cane Row” on BBC Radio 1's Future Sounds with Clara Amfo.
This time, he teamed up with British singer-songwriter Jorja Smith on the track.
The song is taken from his upcoming album “Third Time's the Charm”, which is due out this Friday (September 23rd).
It was written by Protoje and produced by IOTOSH.
Protoje told Clara Amfo about the song, “I was inspired by our hairstyle, to be honest, you know, she always used to have her hair and styling those candles. So and I started to write and sign and I came up with that line. I was like, this needs Jorja, I need to reach out with, and she was doing my album.”
Also, he shared social media, “I had a Vision when I wrote this song that it had to be done with Jorja Smith_ an ode to her original hair style Cane Rows. Bless up J money for doing this song. I hope y'all enjoy it half as much I enjoyed making it.”
- The new album comprises 10-track, featuring guest appearances from Jesse Royal, Jorja Smith and Lila Iké.
It is his first album in two years since the 2020 album “In Search of Lost Time”.
He said of the album, “Third Time's The Charm concludes this trilogy of albums that directly focus on my study of time and how important it is to make sure what you're doing is fulfilling you in every way. Sonically it's a bit more reggae than my last, even though reggae is always the root, I had some fun implementing all the sounds I've grown to love.”
