Elton John & Britney Spears Team Up for New Song “Hold Me Closer”
British singer-songwriter Elton John and American singer-songwriter Britney Spears recorded a new duet song called “Hold Me Closer” last month and released on August 26, 2022.
The song is a mash-up of Elton John's hit songs “The One” (1992) and “Tiny Dancer” (1972).
Elton John teased the song at a restaurant in Cannes on Tuesday night.
For Britney Spears, the song is her first music in six years since the 2016 album “Glory”.
Also, this marks her comeback to the music scene after her 13-year-long conservatorship was formally ended last November.
The track was written by Elton John, Bernie Taupin, Andrew Wotman, and Henry Walter. Produced by Andrew Watt and Cirkut.
Britney Spears shared on social media, “Okie dokie … my first song in 6 years 🎶 !!!! It's pretty damn cool that I'm singing with one of the most classic men of our time … Elton John 🚀!!!! I'm kinda overwhelmed… it's a big deal to me !!! I'm meditating more 🧘🏼♀️ and learning my space is valuable and precious !!! I'm learning everyday is a clean slate to try and be a better person and do what makes me happy … yes I choose happiness today. I tell myself every day to let go of the hurt bitterness and try to forgive myself and others to what may have been hurtful. I want to be fearless like when I was younger and not be so scared and fearful. I pray there actually is truth to the Holy Spirit and I hope that spirit is with my children as well !!! Yes … I choose happiness and joy today ☀️ !!!”
