Moonray Releases Debut EP “Honeymoon”: Streaming
- Austin-based alt-synth pop duo Moonray, consisting of Jonray Higginbotham and wife Barbara, released their debut EP “Honeymoon” on February 14th.
The EP comprises of 5-track, featuring '80s synth-pop sound. Co-produced by the duo and Eric “Mixerman” Sarafin.
Barbara Higginbothamsaid told Audiofemme about the EP in an interview, “Well, we did use our Honeymoon money to fund this EP. We still do plan on going on a Honeymoon but soon after we got engaged songs started pouring out and we wanted to make it an EP to encapsulate our love and journey as a couple.”
Jonray Higginbotham added, “Each song depicts a phase in our relationship from the beginning of when we first met up to our marriage. Each song is dedicated to love in all its forms. The feeling we wanted to go for was one of a nostalgic journey filled with peaks, valleys and starry nights.”
After the release of the EP, the duo dropped a new lyric video for “Cotton Candy Disco Pie” on March 13th.
The duo said of the video in a statement, “The cotton candy disco pie lyric video portrays the excitement and thrill of finding new love. The ups and downs, the effects on your brain, how it contorts your mind. We feel the video helps describe what our relationship was like at the start. A little trippy, playful and sometimes it felt as if we were losing our minds in a wonderfully magical way.”
