American singer-songwriter brenn! released his debut EP “County Line” on February 9, 2024.
Brenn! caught the attention with his debut song “4runner”, which captured more than 30 million views on TikTok.
Finally, he released highly-anticipated debut EP via Darkroom Records.
The EP comprises a 6-track, featuring writing contributions from Andrew Stoelzing, Carrie K, Eli Teplin, Jamie Kenney, Mike Robinson, Mikky Ekko and Sam de Jong. Produced by Mike Robinson.
brenn! told Jack Saunders of BBC Radio 1 about the EP, “It's basically just the stories of my life over the past year since I kind of brought for runner out. I think each song was kind of made to be live.”
He shared on social media, “Hholy crap the EP is here and I could not be more thankful. every single one of you amazing people have made this possible. I am nothing. thank you to my amazing team and amazing people in my life who have supported me and pushed me to continue. I thank the lord everyday for everything that's happened. You guys are amazing and I hope these songs find a special place in your heart.”- brenn! told Ones To Watch about what inspires his songs, “Certain songs inspire me, I love Noah Kahan, Noah Kahan's great. I don't take inspiration from him anymore, but I think I did in terms of wanting to be able to tell a story. Because Noah Kahan's very good at telling a story and keeping everything cohesive. That's the inspiration I took from him. And then everything else is just, like, places. Like Utah, the Midwest, the South-like just places and things-ike street signs. I love street signs and interstates. They’re great. I draw most of my inspiration from that, and from losing things.”

“4runner” via Ones To Watch
“4runner" was the first song I wrote. I sat down and I sang it, and then I just tweaked it throughout the days, that little verse. So that was one of the demos I made. So I produced it on my computer. And then three months later, I went up to Nashville for my first studio session, and I wrote with Mike Robinson and Carrie. I actually wrote the first verse in one. So I was sitting on my bathroom floor after a traumatic friend break-up. Not a break-up, but like, my best friend of four and a half years was just like, 'Oh, uh, no more.' So I was like, okay, that sucks. I was on the floor of my bathroom, feeling it out, whatever. And then that line came out. And it was about her moving up north and whatnot, in her 4runner, which I later figured out-after the song comes out-was a Honda Pilot.”
“Valapriso”
“'Valapriso' is a song modeled after a smaller town in Indiana named Valparaiso. Someone I loved was there. I was never able to say or spell the town right, but the song came out okay. Hopefully, that makes up for it.”
“Rearview”
“Making this this music video and working on these new songs have been some of the peaks of my life. not to mention the amazing people i've met along the way. thank you to skyler and the rest of the team for making this possible!! Working with Skyler for my first music video was a great experience for me. He is such a nice guy, and he knows how to get people where he wants to go, moving everyone around in the most professional way possible while still making it a very fun environment.”
“jesus song (county line)”
“This song means more to more than my other songs. It's a part of me i've had a hard time understanding and dissecting the past few years. christ is the only way and i cannot see it from any other perspective now. I hope this song means something to you all too.”
“Revival”
“I think this is my favorite one off the EP. And it's very special because it's about somebody very special and just the whole situation that I'm still kind of living through so. It was definitely a plan thing kind of wanted to give the idea of painting a picture in the beginning and then things are going smoothly, whatever and then kind of comes crashing down in this like spiraling moment of like organized chaos, if that makes any sense.” - source : Apple Music
