Nicky MacKenzie Returns With New Song “Comfortable”
Canadian singer-songwriter Nicky MacKenzie returned with a new song “Comfortable” on February 1, 2024.
It is her first music in three years since the 2021 singles “Fmk” and “Do I Wanna Know?” with Vancouver-based producer Hahlweg.
The song will appear on her upcoming EP “MORALS”, which is expected to be released in 2024.
The track was written by Nicky MacKenzie.
Nicky MacKenzie said of the song, “I wrote the song "Comfortable" at a time when I was going through a big growth spurt of self discovery and coming to understand the ways in which my brain worked and what made me tick. It became a very personal and cathartic song and I feel like I realized what it was about after I had written it. It's a song about figuring yourself out, walking away from situations that make you anxious, and learning to grow up and trust the voice in your head.”
- She continued, “At the time I wrote it, I was definitely trying to dilute the style of music I wanted to create and "Comfortable" came from mixing three different song inspirations I had together. It originated from a poem I had written in my notes. The melody of the first verse had been recorded on my phone, and grew from a chord progression that had been stuck in my head.”
She added, “The general theme of the upcoming EP, MORALS, and most of the music I have been writing in the past few years is about learning to peel back your deeper layers and teaching yourself to live your life with shameless undertones. I learned a lot during the making of these songs, and I hope you can take something from them too.”
