Stefano May Releases New Song “HIDEAWAY”
Miami-based Italian singer-songwriter Stefano May released a new song “HIDEAWAY” on November 16, 2023.
The song is featured on his self-titled debut album, which was released on the same day.
Moved by a transformative connection he made with a homeless man in Tijuana, Mexico, Stefano May wrote the song about the life-changing conversation he shared with this man.
The track was written by Stefano Maiuolo, and John Smallwood. Produced by Chico Bennett.
The accompanying music video was directed by Stefano May himself, and shot by Sebastian Cuenca using the Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Stefano May said of the song, “I was so captivated by his incredible experiences that I felt the need to capture this moment in music so that it would live forever in my memory. He reminded me how valuable we all are, even when faced with difficult circumstances.”
The debut album comprises 9-track. On the album, Stefano May aims to bring people together through the power of music.
He said, “Music is made to heal your soul. People find commonality in the music they listen to and every song has the right time and place for each of its listeners.”
Stefano May explained about some tracks for the album.
“Find My Way”
“No matter how challenging your surroundings can be, you will always be able to find your own way..."
“In everyone's life, there is a moment when words cannot convey the gravity of a troubling situation to another. The power and beauty of music builds connection and closes this gap. I wrote this song about the craziness that can surround a relationship, from my own unique perspective. Each listener can apply this song to whatever craziness they may be experiencing.”
“We Are The Power” via Mundane
“The times we are living drove the timing and ultimately, the finished state of 'We Are The Power' and video. I know we can all be inspired and I know that working together we are all so powerful. I felt tired of listening to all of the bad news on TV. I also felt that in such a fragile historical moment, that had been silenced to a degree. In my opinion, music was not being used for the purpose of healing and inspiration, and this need drove our thoughts in writing 'We Are The Power'”
“Hope It Will Remind You”
“My lyricist John Smallwood and I hope it helps people who suffer, as well as their loved ones. This song reminds me to live each day with gratitude, love, and compassion. Prevention of Alzheimer's is beyond important. It's an honor to partner with The Alzheimer's Research and Prevention Foundation as they continue to champion new findings and advocate for disease prevention, and I look forward to working alongside the organization to write music that can help people in whatever capacity I can.”
“Don't Say Goodbye”
“In this video, I witnessed the new beginning of the second chance between this couple. Through their actions, smiles, and affection for each other while being in sync with the nature around them, I was able to see myself as the person I was at a unique time in my life.”
“When I came up with the idea to write 'False Horizon,' I wanted to be able to create the image and feeling of a free soul that escapes from the static routine of our daily lives. I was inspired by the freedom of the California desert environment. When I witnessed the beauty of the desert for the first time, it was like having a blank piece of paper where I could write what I felt without limits. This was the feeling and sensation that I wanted 'False Horizon' to represent: the space where we can live freely without any barriers. When I brought the idea of 'False Horizon' to my producer Chico Bennett, I wanted this pop production to have a slight western vibe. Chico was able to achieve this idea by giving this song the right balance capturing what I wanted and beyond.”
