MARIS Releases New Song “Voicemail”
American singer-songwriter MARIS released a new song “Voicemail” on October 20, 2023.
The song is the follow-up to “Hot Guitar Player”, which was released last month.
The track was written and produced by Maris Ward and Jeremy Hatcher.
MARIS said of the song, “'Voicemail' to me is a juxtaposition. It is cathartic and casual at the same time. It is so overzealous in its expectation of the world, but so insecure of its place. It notices the colors and beauty of the mundane and still screams in existential dread. It's a reflection of me at the time, me in some ways now, and me very likely again in the future. Most of all, it's a thank you note to my family for caring for me, and a place to put all those juxtaposing feelings for safekeeping.
- Maris Ward shared on social media, “VOICEMAIL IS BORN! I love this song so fucking much. It was the first time Jeremy Hatcher and I ever wrote 1 on 1, and it served as a place for me to put all my heavy heavy feelings of self doubt and crisis. And write a sort of love letter to my family for taking my crisis calls. I wanted the lyric to feel candid, and I was obsessed with the concept of a song that is really a drawn out, panicked, lonely, chaos-ramble voicemail. I'm really fucking grateful to be putting this song out. I hope you love it.”
She will be opening for American pop rock band The Wrecks at Moroccan Lounge in Los Angeles on October 26th.
