Paytra Releases New Song “Breaking Glass Ceilings”
New York-based singer-songwriter Paytra has kept busy for making her upcoming full-length album “Tiny But Mighty” after the EP “Mama Taught Me How to Fight” released back in February.
From the album, she released a brand new song “Breaking Glass Ceilings” on July 21st, following “Lose Yourself”, “Motherfuckin' Misfit American Anthem”, and “You Got The Sauce”.
The track is an unapologetic anthem for underdogs.
Paytra said, “I was raised to never doubt myself and that I could do anything a man could do. So once I got into the real world and realized other people HADN'T been raised that way... and that I had to work even harder to get the same respect as the men in the room-- I felt rage. That's what this song represents to me.”
She continued, “I'm going to bust down the door and make sure I make it happen. To any girl reading this... know that it will be hard. You will be treated differently because of being a woman. But also know that it's okay to bust down the door if it's not being opened for you.”- She shared on social media, This song is so powerful to me. I was always taught that women can do whatever a man can (which is true!). But when I stepped in the real world and realized that I'd have to constantly combat sexism, proving myself, and establishing myself as an EQUAL rather than someone to be hit on or “won over” I realized women CAN be equal... we just need to work 100x harder to earn it.”
