  • Hozier Releases New Song “De Selby (Part 2)”

  • Irish singer-songwriter Hozier released a new song “De Selby (Part 2)” on July 21, 2023.

The song is the fifth single off of his upcoming third studio album “Unreal Unearth”, which is set to be released on August 18, 2023.
It was written by A. Hozier-Byrne, Jeff Gitelman, Daniel Tannenbaum, Sergiu Gherman, Daniel Kreiger, and Peter Gonzales. Produced by Bekon, Chakra, Pete G, Jeff Gitelman, Sergiu Gherman, A. Hozier-Byrne, and Marius Feder.
Hozier said of the song, “This song reflects on darkness and night falling. It aligned with the thinking of the character of De Selby. When you can't see where your hands and the darkness end, they literally become one and the same. Part 2 is something of a descent. We are lost together in this moment with no beginning and no end. The track explores this theme over a disco track, hope you enjoy!”
Also, s=he shared on social media, “It follows on from its opening to further explore and play with the themes of darkness in the context of connection; to self, to other and to sense of time and space. The two parts are together some of my favourite songs on the album.”
  • The new album comprises 16-track, produced by Hozier, Jennifer Decilveo, Chakra, Bekon, Pete G, and Sergiu Gherman.
It is his first album in four years since the 2019 album “Wasteland, Baby!”.
Hozier wrote the album during the COVID-19 pandemic. It was inspired by Dante's “Inferno”, which he began reading at the time, framing the album around Dante's concept of the nine circles of Hell.
