Jesse Adams Releases New Song “Gravity”
Canadian singer-songwriter Jesse Adams released a new song “Gravity” along with a music video on April 14, 2023.
The song is her first single since the 2022 EP “Shades of Gold”.
The track was written by Jesse Adams and Sara Bandkohal. Produced by Will Crann and Emma Whale.
The song has been 16 years in the making. She started writing the song when she was seven years old with her friend Sara Bandkohal, and finished it later in adulthood.
Jesse Adams said of the song, “My friend Sara Bandkohal came over one day and we began to collaborate as co-writers. She wrote the initial chorus and I wrote the rest around that. Years later as an adult, I dug this song out and started rewriting melodies, changing lyrics, and adding instrumentation. It was finally finished! Now we get to show this song to the world sixteen years after its inception!”
- She explains her inspiration for the song as “Life isn't stagnant. Just when you think you're winning, you lose and vice versa. It's unpredictable. It's out of our control like gravity.”
She continued, “'Gravity' is a coming-of-age story which follows a girl with the world at her fingertips who almost risks it all for a person willing to drag her down with them. Will she sever the pull of their Gravity, or will she succumb to it?”
The accompanying video was directed by Saad Sheikh.
Jesse Adams said of the video, “My incredible friend and fellow artist Saad Sheikh directed the music video for “Gravity.” We envisioned a dark atmosphere with various imperfect and morally gray characters. I came up with the idea of being chased, and he came up with who would be chasing me. You'll have to watch the video to find out. I wanted to make sure that my signature sound is heard in this song, despite how nerve-wracking it was to take the risks which brought this to fruition.”
