Miley Cyrus Releases New Album “Endless Summer Vacation”
American singer-songwriter Miley Cyrus released the eighth studio album “Endless Summer Vacation” along with a new music video for “River” on March 10, 2023.
It is her first project in three years since the 2020 album “Plastic Hearts”, and is also the first album under her new label Columbia Records.
She signed to Columbia Records in 2021 after leaving RCA Records.
The album contains 14-track, featuring guest appearances from Brandi Carlile and Sia.
Produced by Miley Cyrus, Kid Harpoon, Tyler Johnson, Greg Kurstin, and Mike Will Made It.
Miley Cyrus recorded the album in Los Angeles and described as “her love letter to LA” that represents the physical and mental growth she experienced during production.
It is set to serve as a “reflection of the strength she's found in focusing on both her physical and mental well-being.”
- Also, she explained that the album is divided into two parts: AM and PM. AM represents "the morning time, where there's a buzz and energy and there's a potential of new possibilities", while PM represents the nighttime, which “feels like there's a slinky, seediness and kind of a grime but a glamour at the same time”.
Initially, she wrote several songs with Michael Pollack and Gregory 'Aldae' Hein, which were conceived only with piano.
This time, one of those songs, the demo version of “Flowers” is featured on the album.
The accompanying music video was directed by Jacob Bixenman.
Miley Cyrus said of “River”, “It was a time in my life where I was going through just a lot in my life emotionally and personally. And I guess all my songs kind of evolve, they could start as something that was a trouble, like it just feels like it’s an April Shower, it never stops raining, and then it started raining down like love. “River,” sometimes we just need a dance floor banger, AKA they don’t want me to talk about how the fact the song is about ***. It’s nasty.”
