Justine Vandergrift Announces New Album “Mountain Standard”, Shares New Song “Little Bird”
Alberta-based Americana singer-songwriter Justine Vandergrift announced her fourth studio album “Mountain Standard” would be released on March 17, 2023.
It is her first album in three years since the 2020 album “Stay”.
The album features 10-track, produced by Trevor McNeely, Jeff Kynoch and Justine Vandergrift.
From the album, she released the first single called “Little Bird” on February 3, 2023.
The track was written by Trevor McNeely. She recorded the track at Jeff Kynoch's studio back in June 2022.
Justine Vandergrift said of the song, “My co-producer Trevor McNeely wrote 'Little Bird' and pitched it as an idea for the album. It wasn't a style I was used to singing or writing in but there was just an ease about the tune that pulled me in. I added a verse and when we recorded it live in the studio, we sort of magically eased into it and it ended up making the final cut. Most songwriters don't like talking about what songs like this are really about, hoping that the listener just feels it. But Trev said he wrote it as a love song for his wife as they were expecting their child.'
