Dermot Kennedy Releases New Song “Kiss Me”
Irish singer-songwriter Dermot Kennedy released a new song “Kiss Me” from his upcoming sophomore album “Sonder” on September 2, 2022.
The song is the fourth single off of the album, following “Better Days”, “Something to Someone” and “Dreamer”.
The track was written by Dermot Kennedy, Dan Smith, Steve Mac and Stephen Kozmeniuk. Produced by Steve Mac, KOZ, and Scott Harris.
The accompanying music video was directed by AB/CD/CD (Franz Ferdinand, Sparks).
The idea for the song came from a famous piece of literature -- F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel “Tender Is the Night”.
Dermot Kennedy said of the song, “The message behind both the video and song of 'Kiss Me' is that love is worth it…Even when things are falling apart and life feels short and there's chaos all around us, there's still always something to hold on to. I hope you love it as much as I do.”
He continued, “In this song, I have the lyric, 'Whatever may come / somewhere deep inside / there's always this version of you and I,' and that just means that even if everything falls apart -- if it seems completely unsalvageable -- that the best version of you and that person still does exist somewhere.”
The new album comprises 11-track and is set to be released on November 4, 2022.
Initially, the album was set for release on September 23rd, but it was announced to be postponed to November 4th.
Dermot Kennedy shared on social media, “I need to let you know that the release of my new album “Sonder” has been pushed back to November 4th. I hate making you guys wait longer for something I'm so eager to share, but this year has been wild and it's necessary for a lot of reasons. However, this also means more new music will be coming very soon! I hope you can understand, and know that I'm so grateful for the support, patience and love. Sonder will be yours soon, I promise ♥️”
