Ruston Kelly Premieres New Music Video for “Faceplant”
- Nashville-based country music singer-songwriter Ruston Kelly premiered a new music video for “Faceplant” on EARMILK.
The video was directed by Stephen Kinigopoulos and Alexa King, who directed the video for Ruston Kelly's previous song “Mockingbird”, as well.
The song will appear on his upcoming debut album "Dying Star", which is set to be released on September 7, 2018.
Last July, he first performed the song for One On One Session at City Winery New York.
Ruston Kelly said of the song;
“This song is about learning to laugh at yourself; every foolish mistake should be met with a sense of wisdom and humor. How else would we ever make it through? My life was like a fucked up drug-fueled carnival for so many years and being able to express that completely and transparently is essentially what art is to me. Thankful I had my directors, Stephen and Alexa to help achieve that sense visually with this whole party town/losing my mind vibe.”
The debut album was co-produced by Kelly and Jarrad K (Kate Nash, Weezer) and recorded at Sonic Ranch in El Paso, TX. All songs were written by Ruston Kelly.
The album is available to pre order here.
He’ll head out on the road in support of the album from early September through mid-November, with his first stop overseas in London on September 7th.

He stated about the album;
“A lot of my music is focused on suffering, or trying to understand the human condition through the lens of suffering…which probably sounds totally depressing, but it’s actually the flipside of that. Sometimes you’ve gotta go into that darkness—you need to get lost and then figure out for yourself how to find your way back. That’s the only way we can find pure joy, and really be thankful for the life we’ve been given.”
