Frédéric Yonnet Performs on NPR's Tiny Desk Concert with Special Guest Dave Chappelle
French harmonicist Frédéric Yonnet appeared on NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert on July 9. This time his long-time friend and American comedian Dave Chappelle hosted.
The entire show is 17 minutes and features 2 originals "Four20", "FRéEDlosophy" and one improvised jam "No Smokin' Blues".
Frédéric Yonnet has played with Stevie Wonder, Erykah Badu, John Mayer and Ed Sheeran, among others.
Dave Chappelle told the story of how they met and the time that he and the French musician were introduced to Stevie Wonder backstage at the Grammys in 2006.
"Fred ran up and said, 'Oh my God it's Stevie Wonder!' And he ran up and started playing for Stevie and I was very embarrassed. The next thing I know, Fred and Steve was on tour."
"Four20" and "FRéEDlosophy" will appear his upcoming album "Reed My Lips". The songs blend of contemporary jazz, blues and hip-hop.
Back in 2010, he released "Reed My Lips: The Rough Cut". Followed by, "Reed My Lips: The Final Mix" was released in 2011.
Both albums are available exclusively to fans purchasing digital download cards at live concerts and online. Because the album could change significantly by the end of the production process.- source : NPR
