American singer-songwriter Chelsea Cutler released her sophomore album “When I Close My Eyes” on October 15, 2021.
The album comprises 13-track, featuring guest appearance from Quinn XCII. Produced by ayokay, Chelsea Cutler, Hazey Eyes, Kev White, Rice N' Peas and Sir Nolan.
“There's some serious growth between the last album and this one,” Chelsea Cutler said. “I've grown up a lot, and my perspective on a lot of things has shifted and become more refined and mature.”
She has always penned vulnerable lyrics in the past. Because she believed her depression was a fundamental part of her identity.
But this time, she wrote joyful and unapologetically romantic songs flow from a completely unguarded place.
She said of the album, “My sophomore album is generally a conceptually lighter album than haw to be human. In the last 18+ months, I've explored writing about a much broader spectrum of emotions, many of which are feeling of happiness and gratitude. I do think to be able to be in a better place emotionally, I had tp get to a place where I could make the distinction between me and my depression. For a long time I conflated the two and believed my depression was a fundamental part of my identity. I don't feel that way anymore. I know what my identity us and what my personality is.”- She shared on social media, “I have no words for this project and for everybody who helped make it possible. Through this album I discovered the joy of collaborating with your best friends and the challenge of writing about a much broader spectrum of experiences. In a time when a lot of us felt hopeless, getting to write this album with such amazing people was the one thing that carried me through. I have never had so much fun making music. All I wanna do is dance on my rooftop overlooking the city lights and scream these songs at the top of my lungs and all I hope is that this album makes you want to do the same. Thank you again to everybody, to you guys particularly for enabling me to live my dream and for growing with me.”
