American pop rock duo Aly & AJ released a new song “Pretty Places” along with a music video on March 5, 2021.
The song is their single off of their upcoming fourth studio album “a touch of the beat gets you up on your feet gets you out and then into the sun”, following “Listen!!!” and Slow Dancing”.
It was written by AJ Michalka and Aly Michalka. Produced by Yves Rothman.
The duo recorded the song at Sunset Sound, Hollywood CA and Saturn Sound, Hollywood CA.
The music video was directed by Michelle Laine and Stephen Ringer, featuring Aly Michalka, AJ Michalka, Josh Pence and Stephen Ringer.
Aly Michalka said of the new album, “The feel of this record is just feel good. It's a very West Coast album. I think for us, we wanted to make a record that made people feel good again, and that made people feel hopeful again in a time where feeling good and feeling hopeful seems so strange and seems so unnatural.”
She continued, “We're getting a lot of inspiration from music from the '90s, music from the '60s and '70s. It feels cool to be able to play with these other styles of instrumentation that we wouldn't normally have on stage; there's a slide guitar and a horn section . . .
