American singer-songwriter Madison Beer appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to perform “BOYSHIT”.
She temporarily re-dubbed “I Don't Speak (Boy)” to meet the standards of network television.
The song was released as the fourth single from her debut album “Life Support” along with a music video last December.
Madison Beer said of the song, “At its core, 'BOYSHIT' is about knowing your worth and taking back your power in a relationship that clearly has its problems. I've been there and that isn't always an easy thing to do, so I hope this song serves as a reminder for any of my fans out there who need it. You're worth so much more than someone's BS.”
She added, “I wanted this video to be a tongue-in-cheek nod to dealing with toxic masculinity while playing with the aesthetics of cult films 'Blue Velvet' and 'The Heathers'”- The debut album was released last month. She told Rolling Stone about the album, “With my album, I made a promise to myself that this is going to be my time to express honestly and truthfully how I've been feeling. I could finally tell my story the way I wanted to tell it and touch on things like medications that are harmful for young adults that I've been put on, and real shit I've never been able to talk about.”
