Kygo & Tina Turner Premiere New Remix Of “What's Love Got to Do with It”
- American singer and the 12-time Grammy winner Tina Turner is back. Now she is at age 80 and teamed up with Norwegian DJ Kygo to release her most successful single “What's Love Got to Do with It” remix.
The accompanying music video was directed by Sarah Bahbah, starring Laura Harrier and Charles Michael Davis.
The original of the song was released in 1984. It was taken from her fifth solo album “Private Dancer”. The track reached No. 1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and No. 3 on the UK Singles chart. Also the song's title was used as the title for the biographical film about Turner's life.
“I couldn't be more excited to collaborate with Tina Turner, who is an icon that I grew up listening to,” Kygo said in a statement. “'What's Love Got To Do With It' is one of my all-time favorite songs so to have a chance to rework it has been a very special moment in my career. I love working around timeless vocals and although it's challenging to preserve elements of the original track and adding my own touch, I'm extremely happy with how it turned out!”
Kygo created a remix of Whitney Houston's “Higher Love” last year. The new remix follows up “Higher Love” as the collaboration with the legend artists.
