  • English Teacher Drops New Music Video for “R&B”

  • Leeds-based indie rock band English Teacher, consisting of Lily Fontaine (vocals/rhythm guitar), Douglas Frost (drums), Nicholas Eden (bass) and Lewis Whiting (lead guitar), dropped a new music video for “R&B” directed by Sarah Oglesby on February 14, 2024.

The song is the fourth single off of their upcoming debut album “This Could Be Texas”, which is set to be released on April 12, 2024.
Originally, the song was released in 2021, but the band re-recoded the song as the album version for the debut album.
The track was written by Douglas Frost, Lewis Whiting, Lily Fontaine, and Nicholas Eden. Produced by Marta Salogni.
Back in 2021, the band said of the song in a statement, “'R&B' is about the cyclical, productivity-diminishing paradox of low self-esteem and imposter syndrome-induced writer's block that then fuels low self-esteem and imposter syndrome. It's also about racial identity and putting the love that you have to offer a potential romantic partner back into yourself.”
  • The band said of the video, “The cyclical nature of the universe demands that we announce the release of the album version of R&B on Valentines Day. For what could be more fitting, for the day of romance, than a song about romancing yourself? The song may be old but trust us this video is so goddamn new, we literally can't believe how new it is, wow! Directed by repeat offender Sarah Oglesby at Sodium Films. And of course the song was produced by Marta Salogni, engineered by Grace Banks and mastered by Heba Kadry.”
