Miss Randall Covers Dead Can Dance's “Spirit”
Portland-based drummer and singer-songwriter Miss Randall released a cover of Australian musical act Dead Can Dance's “Spirit” on December 22, 2023.
The original version of the song is featured on Dead Can Dance's compilation album “A Passage in Time”, which was released in 1991. Dead Can Dance remastered the album in 1998.
The track was written by BRENDAN MICHAEL PERRY and Lisa Germaine Gerrard. The cover version was produced by Miss Randall.
“Spirit” itself is an ode to resilience and strength in the presence of adversity, a story of coming of age and to terms with past dreams that never truly materialized.
Miss Randall said of the song, “My final single of the year: a heavy cover of “Spirit” by the great Dead Can Dance. Special appearances by Alejandro Corredor (gtrs/bass/mix) and klngwll (keys)”- This year, Miss Randall formed International heavy metal band Qarinah with Germany-based guitarist Waldemar Sorychta.
Qarinah released their debut song “Hell or High Water” on December 15, 2023.
The band is currently working on a 4-track EP and full-length album, which will be released in 2024. -
