  • Dolly Parton Covers “Wrecking Ball” featuring Miley Cyrus

  • American country music singer-songwriter Dolly Parton teamed up with American singer-songwriter Miley Cyrus to release a cover of “Wrecking Ball” on October 20, 2023.

The song will appear on Dolly Parton's upcoming first rock album “Rockstar”, whcich is set to be released on November 17, 2023.
The original version of the song was released by Miley Cyrus from her fourth studio album “Bangerz” in 2013.
The track was written by Stephan Moccio, Sacha Skarbek, Maureen McDonald, Lukasz Gottwald, Henry Walter, and Kim Kiyani. The cover version was produced by Kent Wells and Dolly Parton.
“I remember the first time I heard 'Wrecking Ball', it hit me the same way, it did the first time I heard 'I Will Alway Love You' by Whitney Houston. When I heard 'Wrecking Ball' I almost wept in my car," Dolly Parton said of the song in a statement. “When it started into the chorus it hit me like a wrecking ball! I thought how great can a song be and how great can Miley Cyrus be? I thought, I have to have that song on my rock album and I have to have Miley sing it with me! I love it and I hope you do!"
  • She continued, “To involve Miley in my rock 'n' roll album, I thought, well, I have to do 'Wrecking Ball,' because I love Miley and I love the song. So I said, 'Will you come and do this for me?' And she said, 'Of course,' but it actually came from the fact that we had done the song on NBC for her New Year's show that she does every year from Miami.”
She added, “We got such a response from how we did 'Wrecking Ball,' and combined my song 'I Will Always Love You' with that one. Since everybody loved it, and we loved it, I thought, why don't I just do that combination and have her sing on my rock album? So I love my Miley and I love that song and I'm very proud of it. My version, and hers, and ours.”

  • Miley Cyrus shared on social media, “I've grown up covering my Aunt Dollys music & it's an honor to hear her singing one of my songs. I love you Aunt Dolly! I'm so happy to add another collaboration under our bedazzled (studded leather) belt! We're ROCKSTARS now! You can hear so much sweetness and love on this record. Excited to share it with everyone.”
The new album comprises 30-track, featuring guest appearance from Sting, Stevie Nicks, Peter Frampton, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, Chris Stapleton, Lizzo, Elton John, P!nk, Brandi Carlile, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and more.
